The Worst Sport teams in History

By
Molly Bado

Sports team loyalties can be forged during all sorts of situations. You root for the home team, your adopted home team, your college, your high school, your father's favorite team, the franchise that keeps winning, etc. But what do you do if your team is the worst?

That is the question that Buccaneer, Clippers, Houston Texans,Charlotte Bobcat and Memphis Grizzly fans have been facing since the creation of their particular franchise. The Los Angeles Clippers founded in 1971 have only won overall about 36% of their games. The last winning season was in 1981, a crowning achievement for a decade of failure. But the Clippers are not the worst team in sports history. In fact, the Los Angeles Clippers rank number four out of five of the Worst Teams In History, according to Yahoo News reporter Monte Burke.
The worst team in history, is the Memphis Grizzlies. Winning less than a third of games played in their 14 year tenure, the honor may be deserved. Fans blame it on the thrifty management style, or the loss of interest. I just think its a case of the Memphis blues.
Number three on the list is the Houston Texans and their depressing stats are surely that to blame. Their fanbase has suffered, their blog only has about 11 followers.
The Charlotte Bobcats have sunk their claws into spot number two, on the Worst Teams in History list. They are however a fairly new organisation, created about four years ago. A few stars have pledged to help the team out. Michale Jourdan can be seen at the top box quite often. Hopefully through his encouragement the team can raise their dismal stats.
The fifth spot on the list belongs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their fans seem to be a little more involved than the Texans, new posts appear quite often and enthusticastically. Maybe next season will be better. We can only hope.

Gym, a poem

The schedule is nothing special, just mat ball and outside days
These pursuits seem to be the range of our activities
I remember when substitutes where a weekly occurrence
Now I remember the illusive Donahue with abhorrence
Rumors abound but we know for sure she's done for the year
Though I know no highschooler can harm me while Gardner is near
Highschoolers are scary, and that is a fact
But I'm almost a freshmen so that isn't quite the appropriate tact
I think the worst part of gym is how we're being graded
I guess its good I've participated
So I'll take these last seven days with a grudging endurance
And hope that the gym program is something we can better finance

17 Again?

Big talent, teenage heart throb-Zac Effron seems recession proof. He also seems a little too mature and talented for the role he plays in 17 Again. The idea for the film is eerily similar to 13 Going On 30 . Here Zac plays Michale O'Donnell a typical middle aged man newly fired from his job, and struggling with a pending divorce and two teenage children.
Effron, though 21 can just about pull off being a 17 year old but the stretch is disconcerting. When reincarnated as his teenage self Mike and his exwife Scarlette have some interesting scenes. I find them just more than a little gross, but the audience around me seemed to find it hilarious.
The dialogue is lacking. The word "dude" is a redundancy of the very worst sort. The characters are only a step ahead of being transparent.
Overall, its a cute flick. Effron fans will undoubtedly agree.

A Movie Reveiw for I Love You, Man

I Love You , Man, is a new breed of comedy. The movie revolves around a "bromance" between the friendly Peter ( Paul Rudd) and Sydney ( Jason Segal). Now, "bromances" are strictly non gay loving interactions between two men. Peter and Sydney go on hilarious "man dates" in which they watch tragic movies and weep over fine wines.
All of this bromancing is not lost on Peter's kind natured fiancee Zooey ( Radisha Jones) and her reactions becoming increasingly paranoid ( and highly amusing).
This movie is a celebration of friendship, emotional men and the situations these men seem to find themselves in! I Love You , Man is a refreshing break from all the tasteless comedies that seem to find themselves in theaters today.I was happy to find that this movie had a real plot. That alone is enough to set it apart.
The only problem I have with this movie is its predictability. However, if you are in the mood for a feel good theater experience, I Love You, Man will not fail to please.

A reveiw of Narrow Stairs, Death Cab for Cutie

With the music industry in shambles , quality in the industry is getting harder to procure. Albums are being picked apart by single hungry DJ's and little deserving talent is showcased appropriately. One of these under appreciated , but unquestionably worthy albums is Death Cab for Cutie's, Narrow Stairs.
Seance being released in May of last year more than a few hits have come from it. The most current of these being Cath. However, I will posses your heart, did just that for many fans of main stream music.
Both tracks fit seamless unto a album crafted both beautifully lyrically and musically. I cannot wait to see what Death Cab for Cutie has left for us.

Michael Jackson disease-becomes epidemic

The iconic Michael Jackson has left more to the world than the 25th anniversary edition of the Thriller DVD. In a recent announcement Jackson’s publicist brought the faded star into the eyes the public again. She explained that Jackson was in the process of becoming a “lecturer” to help the mainstream society accept the “horrible fate” that he and many other celebrities have suffered after “necessary” plastic surgeries. Jackson finally lost his much operated on shnose last June at a red carpet event last June. Since then many of Jackson’s celebrity friends have suffered the same fate. Jessica Simpson and Lindsay Lohan are among some of the victims of poor plastic surgery.

Construction

Construction, eight grade lost Mrs.Emerick's room
The bangs and the bumps don't look like their ending they are ending soon
In the science lab, concrete shakes
I wonder how long "construction" takes

Heat comes in patches though the ceiling
The open ceilings are quite reveling
Lights and wire hang from wires
The hallways smell like burning tires
Locker doors fall of sporadically
Construction, has me.

Save the Earth in Your Spare Time

Save the Earth in Your Spare Time
By
Molly Bado

With the recent out cry against America’s wasteful ways, caring for your planet and energy conservation has come back in style. Experts as well as the general populous have conflicting opinions about the phenomena call global warming. Weather it exists or not, the alternative being regional weather patterns changing, many a concerned citizen are jumping on the green bandwagon. But if you believe as I do that that Earth’s resources are being stretched to the breaking point, and something has to be done for the welfare of our planet. That raises the question; just what can I do, being a kid and all, to help the environment?
One good way to conserve energy is to turn off your computer. By completely shutting down your computer at night you save about 90$ a year. As well as having a roll in the conservation effort. The Department of Energy suggests that you shut your system down, if you don’t plan on using it in the next two hours. Monitors should be shut down after twenty minutes of inactivity.
You could also wash the laundry in cold water! Most machines have this setting, and most loads don’t need hot water. 90% of the energy used by washing machines goes into heating, when you don’t really need it.
Shopping online is a great idea, especially in the holiday season. Many sales are going on right now, including free shipping. Buying online eliminates the need for paper. ese online stores generally bigger selections of merchandise so you don’t have to drive around to find what you need. Instead of driving from store to store to get the best price you can just visit another website. Shopping online saves gas, money , time and conserves our precious fossil fuels.
When you’re printing out that article that is due tomorrow, why not print it green? By clicking print, going into proprieties and selecting finish, then checking the “Print on both sides” icon, you can save a tree! The U.S alone wastes about 27 pounds of paper per person each year! Save your money, and your landfill, print on both sides.
Going green or greener is realizing that you are not the only person in this world. These tips really make a difference. They also are not life altering actions. We really need a generation or two of environmentally conscience people, for the sake of the lifestyles we embody now.

Insomnia

Crying to a dark ceiling
The sound becomes an animal keening
Nothing can ever equal heartbreak like this
I ball the anguish into a fist

Anger is what I'll turn the utter hopelessness into
Anger is how I'll get through
Until the weight can be lifted again
Using that shield I will pretend

That I will not break down
Every time I remember you
Dates, and memories that mattered
Before the vein where the I.V rested, shattered
He bleeds in the hospital unknowing and unfeeling

God only gives us what we can handle
I only wish I could take up that mantel
Because I miss him so much every single day
More than anything I can put in words could convey
I don't think my family could ever handle this
Three months later and still reeling form deaths kiss.

Understanding the presidential

Understanding the presidential Election
By MOLLY

The 2008 presidential election is undoubtedly one of the most important and interesting events of our times. Given that, and the coverage the media has been providing it’s easy to become confused. So, just what do you need to know?
Obviously, what are the facts? If you are uniformed, you look not only stupid but are not taking full advantage of you rights as an American citizen. What’s taking place that makes this election so unique? Well, way back in the democratic primaries we had two minority candidates face off, Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton. Now Barack eventually won, but not by an enormously large margin. That’s really cool because Obama is black, and not too long ago this country was home to many debates about race and prejudice.. Obama has also surprised many of Hilary Clinton supporters and most media by choosing Delaware senator, Joe Biden. The Republicans, a party that prides themselves on consistency and tradition, has even made ground breaking movements of their own. For example, they have nominated a vice presidential nominee with an apparent lack of experience, and the first woman ever to be nominated for the job. This year the Republicans have selected the oldest presidential nominee John McCain.
Lastly, what’s really important in any election is the issues. In this election both presidential candidates have a variety of concerns to address, like universal heath care, education reform, and the war in Iraq. Now John McCain and Sarah Palin (the Republican vice presidential and president nominees) belong to the same political party as our President George W. Bush. That means they agree with our president on many issues like “staying the course in Iraq” and the current solution our president has provided to the subprime mortgage crisis, and Palin is pro-life, just like our current president. Now, this may seem unimportant but John McCain’s age may be a determining factor in who is appointed to the Supreme Court. Republicans support an education plan that is called No Child Left Behind, a mandatory, school district funded program that has put much emphasis on standardized tests. Democrats, like Barrack Obama, and his running mate Joe Biden completely and strongly disagree with Republicans on every point I have mentioned. Democrats believe we shouldn’t have gone on what they call a “misguided, misrepresented, quest for oil “and think we should leave Iraq in slow measures. The Democrats are appalled at the trillion dollar bailout of major banks, like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Most Democrats are strong advocates of the woman’s right to choose, especially in cases of incest and rape. Democrats also believe that the No Child Left Behind educational plan was destined to fail because it was never properly funded.
Less confused? I hope so, but here’s a quick overview: this election has been an exciting and amazing event, and a couple really important things have happened. One, the first black man to ever make it past the primaries is running as the democrat’s presidential nominee alongside Joe Biden. Opposing Obama and Biden , John McCain and Sarah Palin are the republican nominees. Republicans believe in the war in Iraq, the No Child Left Behind education legislature, and other conservative points. Democrats will oppose all of these points.
